• Other Services

Kindred Hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. In addition to our core services, we offer:

    Advanced Nutrition

When illness or surgery adversely affects a patient’s stomach or digestive system, we administer medication and nutrition in one of two ways. Some patients require a central catheter for administration of medications and nutrition into the veins; other patients require a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) or a J-tube (jejunostomy tube) for medications and nutrition.

    Brain Injury

Brain injuries can be as sudden as they are devastating. Our interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients with brain injuries includes all aspects of rehabilitation and recovery.

    Diagnostic Imaging

Skilled and certified technicians operate our imaging equipment, and we make every effort to perform the testing in as prompt and as convenient a manner as possible.

    Direct Admission

For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from an Extended Care Facility, Skilled Nursing Center, short term acute care hospital, or a physicians office. Please contact our admissions coordinator at 904-284-9230 ext. 4027 to make the necessary arrangements.

    Geriatric Services

Our interdisciplinary team of geriatric specialists includes physicians, rehabilitation therapists, dietitians and mental-health professionals. Their objective is to help our senior patients live life to its fullest.

    Computerized Tomography (CT scan)

We have the Siemens Somatom Emotion Duo/Emotion 6 CT scanner on site to assist physicians in the diagnosis of conditions and the tracking of treatment. Convenient and timely outpatient appointments are available by calling 904-284-9230 ext. 4026.

Your clinical treatment is the chief responsibility of your physician. As a member of the medical staff, your physician makes the necessary arrangements for laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment or service.

The medical staff consists of 170 credentialed physicians with a wide range of specialties, including pulmonology, infectious diseases, general surgery, gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology, orthopedics and urology. The hospital provides an on call physician daily from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to meet patients’ emergency needs after their primary physician has seen them for the day.

Nursing services are provided around the clock to meet each patient’s unique needs. Through the Department of Nursing, care plans are created in conjunction with physicians, therapists and specialists in other disciplines. Many registered nurses (RNs) are ACLS certified. RNs and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) working in the ICU have critical care experience and several are trained to insert PICC lines.

    Respiratory Therapists

Our team of respiratory therapists (RTs) evaluates, treats and manages patients with cardiopulmonary problems, along with offering preventive care. All care is provided under the direction of the medical staff. Many RTs are ACLS certified.

    Surgical Services

Routine surgical services are offered for our patients. In the event of emergency or complex surgical needs, our patients are transferred to a facility based on their needs and insurance plan requirements.

Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory is responsible for conducting any tests that are ordered. Our advanced equipment performs tests accurately and quickly, with results available on the same day whenever possible.

An integral part of the patient care team is our staff of licensed pharmacists. They prepare medications and provide special dietary supplements necessary for proper nutrition.

    Food Services and Nutrition Support

The goal of our dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and prepare diets as ordered by your physician. The dietitian also performs periodic nutritional assessments and monitors your nutrition plan. Please make the dietitian aware of your food preferences and any food allergies you may have.

    Social Services

A wide range of social services – including discharge planning, referrals to community agencies and securing medical equipment for home use – is provided.

    Religious Support

Our Social Services Department has arranged for representatives from various religious affiliations to visit patients on request. Please notify the hospital if you are interested in these services.
